HCMC, July 29, 2014 – the Civil Aviation Authority of Viet Nam (CAAV) held a meeting with State Secretariat of Civil Aviation of Cambodia (SSCA) on human resources development cooperation and safety oversight cooperation enhancement.
H.E Mao Havannall, Secretary of State, SSCA, head of Cambodian delegation and Mr. Dinh Viet Thang, Deputy DG of CAAV, head of Vietnamese delegation collectively signed the Agreed Minutes between SSCA and CAAV to note with satisfaction the remarkable results of the meeting.
The purpose of the Agreed Minutes is to establish an umbrella understanding for mutual cooperation enhancement of human resources development, safety oversight cooperation, and pooling of inspectors, including but not limited to flight operation inspectors, airworthiness inspectors, licensing officers, ANS inspectors/officers and aerodrome inspectors.
With a view to further promote such cooperation, the two delegations decided to establish a regular meeting mechanism called “SSCA- Cambodia/CAAV-Viet Nam Civil Aviation Senior Officials Meeting (SOM)”. The SOM should be composed of senior officials for both authorities and could be held once every one or two years in Cambodia or Vietnam in turn.
In addition, both sides should identify point of contact through International and Legal Affairs Departments on the exact timing, place and agenda for the planned SOM.
Strengthening civil aviation cooperation with Cambodian side is consistent with the general policy of the Party and the State, particularly to ensure the security and safety of flight operations of airlines, including Vietnam’s airlines operating via Cambodia’s airspace and to/from Cambodia./
